Queenborough Society history

The Queenborough Society was formed in 1964 to allow residents of Queenborough to influence local decisions.
A wine and cheese evening was held by Mr & Mrs Spens Black in Church House at which the following were also present:
Mavis O’Callaghan, Rosemary and Heather Winch, Ivy Hayman, Betty Weekes and Susan Kimmings.
During this evening a decision was made to invite local residents to a meeting in order to establish the Queenborough Society.
The Society gave a voice to locals at a time when Queenborough Council was gradually being dismantled, finally merging with Swale Borough Council in 1974.
The Society was instrumental in the establishment of the new Queenborough Town Council in 1984.
